Welcome

The Five Civilized Tribes: the Cherokee; the Chickasaw; the Choctaw; the Creek; the Seminole, all signed treaties with and served the Confederacy, beginning in the summer of 1861. In these treaties the Confederate government promised to assume federal obligations by protecting tribes from invasion and invited Indian representation in the Confederate Congress. An estimate of American Indians who served in the Confederacy is 15,000.
